The E36 328i is powered by the M52B28 inline-six, one of BMW’s most refined naturally aspirated engines. From the factory, the ECU calibration was designed to prioritise emissions compliance and drivability on low-octane fuel, which means the car never quite delivers all the power it’s capable of.

Through a precise ECU recalibration, we optimised ignition timing, throttle mapping, and fuel-delivery tables. The goal wasn’t to make the car aggressive, but to enhance its natural balance, smoother torque from idle to redline, stronger mid-range response, and a clean, consistent power curve. The surging and hesitation that once frustrated Matt have now been replaced by effortless, linear acceleration.
